The EP Women’s rugby team will make their way to Durban this weekend to play against KZN at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Saturday the 24th of May, at 15:00.

This game will be their third game of the season, and they will be keen to build on the successes of their first two games, which saw them defeat Western Province and the Blue Bulls. The team will then go to play SWD on the 7th of June before facing Border on the 14th of June.

The team, which has been bolstered by players from the SA Women’s Rugby side, including centre Phumeza Gadu and lock Nomathamsanqa Faleni, will be looking for another win this weekend.

Donna Sdumba still remains captain and Zandile Nojoko vice-captain.

Coach Eric Songwiqi said based on the games played, the girls’ performance, game structure and technique had definitely improved from last years’ overall performance.

“This is visible on the field and the victories so far also speak volumes.

“The spirit is definitely there and everyone is putting in 100 percent effort and commitment. We have also managed to rectify problems we were having with our line outs and communication that almost cost us the game against the Blue Bulls last weekend at Loftus,” he said.

“We are definitely looking forward to coming back home with yet another win” said Songwiqi.
