Bio

Andries Strauss joined the Southern Kings for their debut super rugby season in 2013, bringing depth to the Kings midfield, as well as joining the Eastern Province Kings for their Currie Cup campaign. Strauss however did not play Currie Cup in 2013, after breaking his hand just before the Super Rugby Promotion/Relegation matches against the Lions.

A former SA Schools, U19 and U21 player, Strauss has also spent time as a Sevens Springbok, which shows in his superb defensive and distribution skills.

A technically astute player, Strauss played for the Cheetahs at  Currie Cup level between 2004 and 2005 before started his Super Rugby career with the Sharks in 2006.

In August 2010, Strauss signed a deal with the Cheetahs for the 2011 Super 15 season, due to the departure of Cheetahs centre Meyer Bosman who joined the Sharks. In 2011 and 2012 Strauss was playing with his cousin, Adriaan Strauss, for the Bloemfontein side.

In November 2010, after an injury to stand in fullback and centre Zane Kirchner, Andries received a call up to play for the Springboks to face a star studded Barbarians side at Twickenham.
